Pedagogy

“Geneviève Strosser is an exceptional viola player and a passionate teacher. She offers young musicians invaluable guidance in developing a technique that serves the music, a deep understanding of musical texts and a strong preparation for professional challenges.

It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend her teaching to violists who aspire to excellence.”

Jean Sulem

Alongside her international career as a performer, Geneviève developed her passion for teaching very early on. She taught at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and was assistant to Jean Sulem at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.

Geneviève is currently Professor of viola at the Musikhochschule Basel in Switzerland. She gives master-classes in Europe, and is a regular jury member for prestigious international competitions.

Working with young musicians is of utmost importance to Geneviève. With enormous dedication, care and sensitivity to the needs of each individual personality, it is her passion to guide her students to develop their best capacities and qualities as violists, while always maintaining the inseparable connection between technique and musical understanding.

“With my students, I explore the infinite world of interpretation while also sharing practicalities of performance arising from the multiplicity of my own professional experiences.”

Geneviève Strosser studied with Claude Ducrocq in Strasbourg, then with Serge Collot and Jean Sulem at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
